COMMON MISTAKES
MISTAKE #1: USING THE WRONG DRILL BIT
MISTAKE #1:
USING THE WRONG DRILL BIT
A 3/4" step bit is a must.
Too big → the vent won’t seal.
Too small → the vent won’t fit.
Twist bits → tear the plastic and cause leaks.
Drilling past the 3/4" step → slightly oversized hole that won't seal
BEST PRACTICE
Use a step bit and stop exactly at 3/4".
An oversized hole is one of the most common causes of mystery leaks.

MISTAKE #2: DRILLING IN A CURVED, THICK, OR UNEVEN AREA
MISTAKE #2:
DRILLING IN A CURVED OR THICK AREA OF THE JUG
Title
MISTAKE #3: O-RING NOT SEATED CORRECTLY
MISTAKE #3:
O-RING NOT SEATED CORRECTLY
The small o-ring on the vent body can shift when installing. If it’s:
• ❌ crooked
• ❌ twisted
• ❌ pulled out of the groove
• ❌ contaminated with debris
…it will leak.
Always confirm the o-ring is fully seated in its groove before tightening.
If troubleshooting a leak, remove the o-ring and inspect the groove for debris or damage.

MISTAKE #4: NOT DOUBLE-CHECKING YOUR HOLE LOCATION
MISTAKE #4:
NOT DOUBLE-CHECKING YOUR HOLE LOCATION
Once you drill, there is no going back.
As Troy says: “Check, check, and check again before you drill.”
Common oversights include:
• ❌ drilling without confirming a flat interior landing
• ❌ drilling too close to the edge or radius of the tank
• ❌ leaving plastic shavings or debris under the flangeEven tiny shavings trapped under the flange can create a leak path.
BEFORE INSTALLING:
✅ Confirm the hole is exactly 3/4"
✅ Feel the inside surface for flatness
✅ Remove all debris and plastic shavings

MISTAKE #5: FORGETTING TO OPEN THE VENT WHILE POURING
MISTAKE #5:
FORGETTING TO OPEN THE VENT WHILE POURING
If you start pouring before opening the vent,
the jug will pull suction and drain slowly.
Open the vent right after you begin pouring
to let air in and keep flow smooth.
